  • First Peoples House

    The First Peoples House is a social, cultural, and academic centre for Indigenous students at UVic and serves as a safe and welcoming place that encourages the building of community. The building and its surrounding native plant gardens is a popular spot to take photos. The architecture and Indigenous art are also points of interest. 

  • Mount Tolmie

    Located near UVic, Mount Tolmie is a popular place to take photos due to its 360-degree view of Victoria from the top. It is known as the best place to view the city. There are many trails within the park that lead to the summit, through meadows and up rocky slopes. It is also a great spot for bird watching and quiet contemplation. 

  • The Quad

    The Quad is a great place to take photos because of the amazing trees throughout the seasons and all of the natural light. The totem poles near the perimeter are also popular photo ops. 

  • Finnerty Gardens

    Finnerty Gardens is a popular spot to take photos at UVic because of the beautiful flowers, plants, ponds, winding pathways and dozens of benches, each with its own distinctive view of the garden. The best time of year to wander and take photos is in the spring, when the rhododendrons are in full bloom. 

  • Mystic Vale

    Mystic Vale is a beautiful spot to take photos at UVic. Trees up to 500 years old provide a gentle canopy over the paths where students, neighbours and dog-walkers escape the otherwise residential surroundings. 

  • Cadboro Bay

    Cadboro Bay is a popular outdoor space used by students and members of the community. It is a short ten minute walk from the UVic campus, just down Sinclair Rd. The sandy beach and views of the Juan de Fuca Strait and Olympic Peninsula are some of its many features. There is a playground and picnic area and a small shopping village adjacent to the beach. 

  • The Quad

    The Quad is a wide, open field, that is a great place to relax, play games, and enjoy one of UVic's many green spaces. It is located in the center of campus, surrounded by many academic buildings, including the McPherson Library. The beautiful trees that line the edges of the field are great for slack-lining. The site is open to the public and always full of activity, especially on a sunny day. It is an excellent people-watching spot. 

  • Finnerty Gardens

    Finnerty Gardens is a beautiful oasis on the edge of campus. Is is a favorite outdoor space for students, staff, faculty and the community to reflect and be inspired. It is free and open to the public year-round. Known as one of UVic's hidden gems, this garden contains many species of flowers and plants, and also contains benches and ponds.

     

     

  • Petch Fountain

    Petch Fountain is in front of the McPherson Library and has benches surrounding it. There are also trees and other plants nearby. It is a popular outdoor space used by many students at UVic. 

  • Student Union Building (SUB)

    The Student Union Building is a resource for students including food operations, the UVic student society (UVSS), print shop, campus dentist office and much more. Find out more on the website or better by going and checking out the business/help centres yourself! Most of the businesses in the SUB hire students making it a great place to work on campus, check out the job posting boards.
